Whitney Young Child Development Center (WYCDC) offers comprehensive, fully mainstreamed child development services at three child development sites in Bayview Hunter’s Point, the Western Addition, and the Haight neighborhoods of San Francisco. WYCDC provides full-day childcare for preschool children of working parents, before and after school supervision of Kindergarten through 6th graders, along with services for developmentally and physically disabled youngsters.


The staff of WYCDC believe all children have the right to develop to their optimum potential. We believe barriers to development should be removed, so children can discover and be proud of their uniqueness as their special talents emerge. We view education as a humanizing process predicated on the acknowledgment of the fundamental interdependence of human beings and natural systems.


Our commitment to children encompasses family and community. We seek to enhance resources available to parents, caregivers and community residents. We attempt to strengthen and create new community resources, while we enlighten those who help shape the immediate environment our children inhabit. Through involvement with other community-based agencies and as a provider of unique avenues for child development WYCDC, Inc. helps expand the life options available to our children.
